:cry:The other week I spray washed my electric bicycle with the garden hose. Halfway in my commute the BionX system completely shut down. Hub motor was stuck in regenerative mode so I had to walk home. Battery wouldn't charge, computer wouldn't work so took the whole system to LBS for assessment.
Just got the bad news. The Hub Motor totally wrecked and other damage; and I said "say no more". "Sigh". Mechanic said its not worth it to try to repair, when a new system would probably cost the same. I've used my BionX in the freezing winter snow and thru summer rainstorms for 4 years without any problems. The Owners Manual never mentioned anything about washing it(the new manuals say do not spray/pressure wash).
So don't wash your electric bicycle if its dirty. Just wipe with a damp cloth.
Not sure if I'm going to purchase another electric motor. I've had my hopes for a recumbent tricycle due to much pain riding upright bicycles(and finances are limited right now).
