Hello Everyone,

Well I am new to the Road Bike world and looking for my 1st road bike. I have been riding all sorts of other bikes, and tried my first road bike and loved it.

I am looking to get my first road bike (Fixed Gear) and am trying to figure out what the best model is. The main thing is, I am looking for the best speed, comfortability, weight, and all of the other things in a road bike that you look for.

The problem, being that it is my first time, I don't want to spend anywhere over 275.00 for it. I usually try something new and buy a little cheaper one, and if I love it go back and buy a "better" quality model.

What is the best "cheaper" but well made and designed Road Bikes that are fixed gear ?

I also did my research and decided a "Fixie" rather then a geared bike would be better for me.

I do realize I might have to order it online, and thats all fine. I'm about 5'8" if my height matters when you are considering a good model of bike for me.

I am going to be riding it no more then 60 Miles a week. I also really liked the curled handlebars on the road bike I tried.

I prefer Matte Black Color, but at the end of the day, I could care less about the color. I care about speed, comfortability, weight, and quality of the bike.

Any Ideas?

I appreciate the Reading Guys, and Look Forward to your recommendations.

Well, man, you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Something's got to change. Either change your expectations or change your budget.

This.

People need to stop being so astounded by the average cost of a quality bicycle in today's market.

$275 buys you three of those ****ers with enough left over to eat at Subway on the way out.

Dunno. At that price range, Windsor The Hour maybe? Below that means the Subway $5 dollar foot long, like Scrod said.

i went with the windsor the hour a year or more ago and i love it. just change the pedals and you'll love it too. sooner or later you'll find some better wheels for cheap, stolen and sold at your local flea market.

No, they're made of a mixture of mustard, Velveeta and plastic.

Hey Guys,

I appreciate all of the information. After doing some reading and research, I decided to go with the "Windsor The Hour".

The only thing stopping me from ordering it is what size to get?

I am 5'7" tall and my Inseam Length is 32". What size cm of bike would I want to get for Windsor The Hour ???

I really appreciate all of the information!

Thanks,

Cole Mayfield

On a blasphemous note, you can generally pick up an old road bike (with gears! *gasp*) for less than $300 and even cheaper if you buy locally (e.g. through craigslist).

This might not be as relevant to OP, who seems to want a new bike, but it is just something worth noting. :innocent:

Make sure to note that your cycling inseam is not the same as your trouser inseam.

I'm curious what the "research" was that you read and led you to a "fixie"?

Maybe 52. maybe 49. Its kinda hard to tell when buying over the internet. try the bike calculator and good luck.
