it's been a number of days past since i received my de bernardi from world class cycles. for some
reason (poor craftsmanship, i assume) the seat stay bridge is drilled a bit left of center. of course
i'll not be using a rear break- regardless, it's bothersome to think about.

Send it back. You paid good money for a top quality product. A top quality product didn't arrive at your doorstep. Send it back.
If for some reason you don't send it back, fill it with bodo. Paint it.

We talking about the Thron track model? My bridge is undrilled. Weird. Still, if it bothers you send it back. La soddisfazione di cliente è numero uno.

hi. i just received my de bernardi the other day. i was just wondering why
the seat stay bridge is drilled left of center... is there anything i can do
about this? thanks.

Hi Jesse,
We never noticed the rear brake bridge, I am surprised that it was even drilled, usually track frames do not gave drilled brake bridges, but rather a brace piece in its place.
Have a great day
Roger / WORLD CLASS CYCLES
maybe i should have said something more like, "i want to return the frame. it is flawed. thankyou."

i'd email them again and let them know that you're unhappy with it.
you paid for one thing and they shipped you something else. they should make good on their mistake.
just my $.02

well, i emailed them back and said i may be using a freewheel and brakes eventually... okay, so that's not probable- at all; but what if? i'd be well out of luck at that point.

What would you do if they replaced it with a brand new frame of the same model and it had an undrilled bridge? Or, if it had come originally with an undrilled bridge would you have sent it back and asked for a drilled one? It's a track bike, right? I'm just wondering if this isn't so much a defect as an inconsequential pecuiarity.

shiftlessblast: you're right. i've never had any intention of using brakes- it's all really a matter of aesthetics. you also pose a good point in saying, hey, it's a track bike, right? yeah, so why is it drilled in the first place? i'd rather it not be drilled at all, but if it's going to be, i want it drilled correctly. maybe i am asking too much...

I have a question, why are some De Bernardi frames drilled in back, other's in front?
But yeah, you should get a refund and/or replacement if you never have the intention of using brakes.
I think the newer models were drilled to meet a larger group of people/buyers. Kinda the Langster line of thought as to why dual brakes and a freewheel. I would send it back and if you get an undrilled bridge and later want a drilling, then drill it straight.

i sent roger a picture of the seat stay bridge. here's what he had to say...
Hello Jesse,
I forwarded your picture to the US distributor for De Bernardi. It appears as though the hole is only about 1 mm off center. They feel that this will not pose a problem as all brakes are built with a centering adjustment screw to compensate for anything being slightly off center, either a brake bridge hole or a rim.
since we've already determined the conflict to be purely of an aesthetic nature, should i simply tell
roger that i’d like to return the frame? am i being unreasonable?
dolface

i don't think you're being unreasonable; that's an expensive piece of gear, you deserve to get what you paid for, not something 'good enough'
Yes absolutely return it. If not, it will bug you forever! I would do it immediately.

roger
i appreciate you contacting de bernardi. their solution however, will not
suffice. it's all really a
matter of principal. the frame wasn't advertised as a second, blem, or
defect- and so i expected an
unflawed product. i'd either like a refund on the frame, or a replacement
frame that is un-drilled, or drilled correctly. thanks.
jesse
HI JESSE,
PLEASE SEND THE FRAME BACK TO US, WE WILL GET ANOTHER ONE AND
SWAP OUT YOUR PARTS. WE CAN ISSSUE A PICK-UP VIA DHL, OR YOU CAN SHIP IT GROUND TO US. LET ME KNOW WHAT IS BETTER FOR YOU. WE WILL REFUND THE SHIPPING COSTS...
