Hello all

I think I've bored all here with my ambivalence about my current employment.

Anyway, current boss told me that I was no longer required, to catch a plane this weekend and my household goods would be packed and follow me. That was Tuesday.

Tuesday - lots of colleagues did a big hurrumph and said - him, us too.

This evening, chief executive - don't worry about a thing, I know who's worth retaining, and it's not your boss

(To make this bike related, I gave our tandem away. To good cycling friends)

Now, though, after lots of hearty handshakes from colleagues which is always nice, I have to acknowledge that retention is a bit less adventuresome than release

I was halfway to buying a ticket to Dubai and a Suzuki DRZ 400, a passage on a dhow to India and a round the world m.bike ride.

What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?

I've got a good friend in Perth one year into a 5 year assignment and he's not liking the massive workload.
The 400lb gorilla on his back has grown to 800lb (his words, not mine).
Gotta be careful in these overseas assignments.
My opinion is that for us older guys, tough jobs even with great pay are over-rated.

edit: I did an electronics bit for 2 years in Thailand back in the days when overseas assignments weren't such a killer. Lived very well and treated by company and locals even better. Wouldn't do it today.
