Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Annoying pop-up ads

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
These full screen pop-up ads are extremely annoying. Everytime I move from one thread to the next or to a new forum, the full screen size ad pops up and you have to close them each time. Very bothersome.

check for spyware since we run banners and text, but not popups like that that i have been advised about.

Really, the pop-up ads are getting out of control. I agree with others that it is almost to the point where I don't want to visit this site anymore. I've got multiple pop-ups appearing now every time I move my mouse. I can't believe these kinds of ads are effective because it makes me want to boycott the advertisers as well as the site. I've got my computer set so that pop-ups aren't supposed to be allowed but they happen anyway.

Screenshot the popups, and send it to us, either through the contact form or my email, tom(at)bikeforums(dot)net and I'll forward it to ad traffic, so we can take care of them. We don't allow popups, but it seems they do slip through from time to time. We do absolutely have to have that screenshot, for us to act.

Excuse my ignorance, but how do I take a screenshot?

On a windows machine, press the print screen button on your keyboard, pull up MS Paint(start>programs>accessories>paint), paste the image, and then save it.

Tom, I just sent 2 screencaps of the popup ads via email.
I am running firefox on linux so malware is not an issue.
I'm using Opera on Windows XP and I don't get pop-ups.

they are more like pop-outs that expand on mouse over.......
Excuse my ignorance, but how do I take a screenshot?
There are screen shot utilities/extensions/apps for various browsers/OS platforms. I know that there is at least one that works on Google Chrome in Windows; I believe that I've seen or toyed around with some on Firefox, Safari for Windows, and possibly Opera.

"ALT/PRTSCN" to capture the shot. Then, go into Word and paste. Save of file and attach file to email.

I just emailed Tom two files with copies of rollover popup ads that keep appearing on this site. Most of them are ads from car dealers but there was one political ad. The proliferation of rollover ads seems to be getting worse rather than better, and makes it very hard to use this site. An ad seems to popup no matter what page you go to. You click on the "X" button and they take a while to disappear and then another one pops up soon after.

I finally seemed to have escaped the pop-up ads, but I don't think it was the screen shots that did it. Altho that might be the case, the ads finally disappeared after I signed up and paid for premium membership on bikeforums.net. I had been reluctant to sign up for premium membership due to the ad issues, but went ahead and signed up because I wanted to support bikeforums as well as use the for sale section. Anyway, the pop-up ads disappeared immediately after I got premium membership, which might be a factor to consider if you are having similar problems.
