my one mate has no limit to his money, and is building a bike from the ground up. what are the best hubs, the best rims, the best stem, the best bars, the best brake system, the best, 3pc crank? i'm serious now, he wants the Ferrari of bikes.

If money is no object then get a set or profile hubs, hula hoop or midway rims, ti spokes, some special nipples. Custom made frame??

you cant go wrong with a pair of profiles. if i were to get new cranks it would either be profile's or the oddy 41thermals because of the lifetime guarentee :)

I was reading an issue of bmx plus magazine and it had a titanium frame in there. Very Expensive, I'm not sure about the strength of them though... Titanium makes me think aluminum strenthwise

wrong-o. titanium is much more similar to steel than aluminum. dont let the light weight make you think that it is weak. titanium is heavier per cubic centimeter than cro-mo, but it takes considerably less titanium to make it as strong as cro-mo, resulting in a much lighter frame.

since we're on the subject of Ti, does anyone know if i can use FSA's 48 spline titanium BB spindle on odessey 41 thermal cranks?

you say 'best'. best can mean many different things to many people. does he want best as in as strong as possible regardless of weight, or best as in as strong as possible but still lightweight?

if you want to build an unbreakable ride, its gonna weigh a lot, does that matter to your buddy?

totally. the top bmx brands all make really quality stuff, most of the stuff has similar prices, just depends on what your looking for. If money were no option I'de build my bike. It took me a while to build up, but I have all the parts I could want, anything I could switch out on it wouldnt be more money, so technically, money was no object for my bike.

i dont like to ride on titanium. i prefer a bit or weight to my bike other wise when your in the air its easyer to lose control

If your friends bike cost $1500, he doesn't have a titanium frame. A ti frame alone costs about that much, and it isn't stronger than a chromoly frame.

I wouldnt go with titanium. Really, you may have all the money in the world, doesent mean titanium is the way to go. From what I hear titanium spokes break under enough stress for example. I mean with bmx you have all of your top quality brands with alot of parts that are pretty much in the same price range and then you have stuff thats titanium for waaay more that you dont need, even if you have all the money in the world. I had a friend who once claimed that he spent $3000 on a street bike. Good for him if he has the money, but $3000 doesent really get you a better bike than $1000 as far as bmx goes. You spend around $1000 maybe a little more and your bike will be golden. I'm writing way to much. Basically, just becuase things are more expensive in bmx doesent mean they are better after a certain point. Have him get good, strong, lightweight if thats what he's looking for parts, but dont be stupid and get the ti whatever cause its $100 more than its steel counterpart. ;)

yeah titainium's sweet get that wheree ever u can, all though, im a car fanatic and i no that ferraris are known for their impresive use of carbon fiber. go with carbon fiber parts, but only its a race bike.......yup......... .. and of cousre titanium spokes break, they're for racing, not street use. and titanium has a greater strength to weight ratio than all types of aluminum, carbon fiber and yes even cromoly steel, trust me i no these things. :)

for hubs go tree in the front and Profile ss cassette out back. Cranks, if you need heavy duty look at the Solid bikes at www.empirebmx.com if you dont need that tough go with profile DJs, profile race, or Profile SS. Ive had Profiles on my race cruiser for 2 and half years and had no problems and never touched them excpet in tune up. as for frame in many peoples veiw the T-1 Barcode is the way to go unless he want a titanium one lol
