Fifty Plus (50+) - Need a worthy topic

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sometime in the next couple of weeks I'll be making my 20,000th post. I don't want to waste it on a chain lube or tire rolling resistance thread. I'm thinking maybe the next shift in the evolution of bicycle technology. We can argue both about what it will be and whether we need or even want it. Any other ideas?
I vote a retro post. You can't beat a Brooks saddle post. Especially since you've gone to the dark side. ;)

I'll put that on the possible list. My son and his wife recently took their first (short) ride on our Brooks-equipped tandem. Afterward he volunteered that he didn't notice the saddle. I'm thinking that's pretty much the best thing that can be said about a saddle.

Another possible. What do you think might be coming after recumbents?

It is hard to come up with something some people will post to. Some people avoid a Brooks post like they do Hari Krishna at the airport. But we are getting to the age where bents hold some interest to some of us. Maybe something on Cycling infrastructure, public acceptance in your area? :innocent:

I vote your - to me - heroic rise back to bicycling after suffering three?? major injuries and your plans for the future.
Or you could hypothesize as to why I have had no g***h*** flats this year (so far).

Anything that is specific to the forum you choose to post in.
For such a auspicious occasion, my vote is to strike out into new territory and try to get banned. Maybe a couple paragraphs on nude cycling with photos of course.

I think that thread might have legs

A thread that changes at least one person's mind on one of these topics:
Mac or PC
Steel or Carbon
Take the Lane or Ride the Gutter
Helmet or No Helmet
Ginger or Mary Ann

I kind of wanted to post in 50+, not Politics and Religion.

How about something less controversial, such as, "Whatever happened to the 50+ forum?"
How about a summary of smarty answers to Retro Grouch posts?

That or "What kind of bike should I buy?"
When in doubt, look to the classics.

Anyone mention PIE?
How about a blank post ? That would confuse some

Gosh, I feel so..........inadequate................having less than 10,000 posts.
How about a serious discussion of the advantages and disadvantage of airless/solid/flat-free tires.

We need to have the definitive post that answers the question, "what bike should I get?" This should be a post that everyone points to whenever any newbie asks this dumb question. The answer, of course, is that IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER! Just get a bike and ride. Nobody cares what you're riding anyway, they are only concerned with what they're riding. But it has to be put in a much nicer, more diplomatic way than I can put it.
