The lack of traffic is so sweet, and the lack of potholes too. What was the air temp at that hour?

8 celcius around 48 farenheit, I saw 5 vehicles, 2 passed me and 3 were going the opposite way in a ride that lasted 48 minutes.

I'm glad I live in a place where I can do low traffic rides without getting up that early (no, I'm not natural morning person). But it would be worth it to have that in front of me!

In order to get a ride in I have to get out the door at 4:45am. There is really no traffic at that time. :)

It is nice. For a bit now I've been getting up between 5 and 5:30 am. I try to be out the door before 6 am and often am on the road by 5:45 am. The back roads I ride usually is light in traffic, but it's really light at that time, especially at that hour on Saturday and Sunday. Weekdays are light, but have to watch for those going to work at the shipyard(1st shift I believe starts at 7am). When schools are out in 3 days, it'll be even better--no more buses or HS kids going off to school--traffic will be even lighter.

Beautiful route scenery Paulie. You are fortunate to live in such a beautiful area:thumb:. I'd love to ride mornings but I get up at 0430 and at work by 0530 through traffic headed to N.A.S. Pensacola. I doubt I'll ride at 0330 in the mornings:eek:. Sleep feels so good when you get old!!:rolleyes:

I don't normally get up that early but a group of birds dediced to take up choir practise outside my window, so as I couldn't sleep I decided to do something productive. Just after this picture was taken I startled a deer and he jumped, I hadn't noticed him, scared the crap out of me and got my heart rate up pretty high.

Many moons ago and it was Mid Summers day. In the UK a time for Druids to come out of the closet and do silly things as the sunrises. No Druids amongst our group but we decided to be up on the South Downs- the local hills- just as the sun rose. Left at 2.30am and found a surprising amount of activity in the villages On the way to the Downs.

Locally we have a "Reputed" ancient hill carving and it was a tradition that we did not realise- for local "Wierdo" groups to be on that carving as the sun rose.

There was us thinking we were doing something special to find that around 500 others had the same idea.

Costly Internet connectivity, Internet capable device?--what are you using to see and post here, a Ouija board? :innocent: ;)

My background is in the sciences and am well aware of the formulas(anyway, I usually have rough estimate of the conversion in my head)--have the link bookmarked as it's simpler than getting the calculator out of the drawer in a different room, firing up Windows Calculator, or going through my phone to get the calculator up, and putting in all the entries. Figured some might not mind having the link to bookmark.

Anyway, back on topic, I like doing the early morning rides--if not for cooler temps in the Summer, to encounter less traffic.

Hence, 8 degrees Celsius is equivalent to 46.4 degrees Fahrenheit.

Although you "light" was better, we had even less traffic, riding home from the Starlight Spectacular, bike night ride, rest stop #2 at 2:00 AM. this morning! Your ride looks more FUN!
