I've reading about frame geometry and ride stability. Concerning the Surly cross-check, I'm assuming its somewhat agressive geometry will be a trade off when loaded for touring, but what about the chainstay legth? It's 16.7 inches....that's 1.4 inches shorter then the Long Haul Trucker. Is the 16.7 inches long enough or will the back of my feet be hitting the paniers as I pedal? Has anyone used the cross-check for loaded touring?

well, I just read all about chainstay lenght is some past posts, so no need to reply to this thread....unless you have tried the cross-check with panniers

I Have Size 13 Feet And Like 175 Mm. Crank Arms, So This Has Bin A Study For Me. More Heel Clirance Can Be Had By Moveing The Bags Back Or Up, Both Of These Options Tend To Decrese Stability. Figure Out What You Need. I Like Longer Chain Stays
