Commuting - I'm glad I commute to save money (but wish I lived in NYC where things are cheaper)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Commuting does save money (roughly 75€/mo on a subway pass - or 20€/mo when it's subsidized by work) ... but the rest of the living costs can be quite expensive ($140 to fill up the Audi and get 2 espressi).

To be honest, I'm really surprised that Frankfurt is so high in cost of living after leaving Stockholm.

However, maybe I should move to NYC and save a bundle :D

That says a lot about the economy. NYC used to be higher up that list.

That said, just because the costs are less here doesn't mean you'll save much, unless you make exactly the same pay. In my field pay tends to be fairly low in NYC--not sure about yours.
