Has anyone done any touring on their hybrids,and if so how did it turn out for you?
I am planning a very small tour(2DAYS)to try and get the feel of things and if all goes well expand the length on the next one.I am attempting this on my Marin-Lucas Valley. I just got the rear cassette changed over for the long up hill climbs.

go on you tube and check out 'inexpensive touring bike' - there are a couple videos of how this hybrid is set up for touring you will enjoy (I did)

I did the Katy Trail 2 years ago with my GT Virage. 180 miles in 4 days. The Katy is a pretty flat limestone Rails to Trails & a tremendously fun ride.
I have a riser bar with pretty long curved barends. I do ride a Brooks saddle. Everything was great. Am planing on doing it again this fall with the same bike.
I'm not good at knowing my ratios on my gears, but it is a triple front & 8 rear.

Look at the photo galleries at Adventure Cycling. There are also plenty of YouTube videos about touring on all sorts of bikes. Yes, touring can most certainly be done on a hybrid. I haven't gone out on my new Wheeler 3700, but I have it set up with Topeak rear rack, tool bag, water bottle cages, etc. I can throw on panniers for touring as easily as my trunk bag for commuting.

Oregon Coast sees all sorts of bikes being toured upon..
You just have to be comfortable enough to ride all day for a few weeks.

i'm taking my hybrid on a 3 day tour soon! (some day after my century ride saturday, weather permitting...)

I don't like things on my bike that aren't essential or safety related, so I put together an ultra light backpack setup.

I went on to add a Sierra Cup recommended in the touring section of the forum to this kit to round it out a little. Still the whole thing weighs less than 13 pounds including shelter. I'm hoping that once I add my camera equipment, fill the bladder, and pack some light food, I can keep the whole pack under 20 pounds.
