Electric Bikes - Battery security? How to secure the battery to the bike? NYC Resident

I want to purchase a e-bike conversion kit for my vintage road bike. My biggest worry is how do i secure my battery to my bike? I was thinking of buying a bike bag and putting it on a rear rack and maybe somehow bolting the bag to the rear rack? I want the bike to not look like a e-bike as well so it doesn't get stolen.

Many of them lock on, my last E-Bike was a kit too I bought the battery off of E-Bay a 9AH seatpost mount jobbie, it slid on the mounting bracket & locked in place with a key. In NYC I would simply unlock it & take it with me had a handle to carry it. My new E-Bike factory built Prodeco it locks on too with a key & too is removable quick & easy. Many duct tape batterys dont lock, maybe people wire & mount them for quick disconnects for easy removal..

I suggest you make it easy to detach the batteries from bike. And just take it with you and find a corner at work or in your friends house. As long as its clean and organised no one will mind.

Make it detachable. Never leave your battery on the bike or thieves will love it.

A lithium pack, should be easily removable and take it with you when you step off ( light, small, expensive )..

if you run SLA, they are cheap and heavy, rig up a safety switch to disable the system only you know how to enable, and use it as ballast to prevent theft lol..

Detachable it is. Ill just buy a bike bag and take it with me. I want to buy one of those lightweight lipo batterys so it makes it easier.

I bought some huge SLA i too want a detachable battery bag. But my batteries dont fit in any bags on the market..

When I bought my system about 4 yrs ago, I had gotten SLA batteries and upgraded to slightly larger
capacity batteries, of I'm guessing here, 11 or 12 Ahr ones. Anyway at that time, I got a Chrystalyte
battery bag. I really like it, it has a power cut off switch that has a key, it is connectorized, and
has large heavy duty velcro straps to attach it to the rack. It has a fairly beefy handle and it
holds the 3 SLA's nicely.

You might be able to find something similar, or may be able to modify one like this, by taking
it to someone who has an industrial sewing machine. They usually have the skills to do
these sort of modifications.

I have a bunch of those bags i got direct from crystalyte years ago, the zippers are terrible, the key switches are 50/50 ( those that work will work for a while, but others fail instantly .. and can only take 20 amps max ) .. the rest of the bags are nice looking tho.. i'd get rid of them for the cost of shipping if anyone wants them.

they fit 3 x 12ah 12v bricks.
