Hello, my name is Christina,
My Son has been given a Sunl big bug 24v scooter.
The child that had it crashed it while being chased by a dog.
The scooter worked fine until the accident.
The problem is with a full charge the scooter moves very slow, almost too slow to keep itself upright.
My husband is pretty good about working on stuff, he suspects a bad throttle since it got a little banged up.
We tested the motor by applying 24v directly to it, it works fine. How do we test the throttle? It has 3 wires.
Thanks,
Christina.
if it has 3 wires, it's likely a " Hall throttle " .. black= ground.. red = 5v and the 3rd wire ( can be white, yellow, etc ) will vary from 0 to 5v when you twist.. if it got hit , one of the magnets inside may have disloged, it can be taken apart for inspection, do it when the plastic is warm and soft to prevent snapping the legs.. the spring inside is a royal pain to put back together but it's do-able..
do the voltage test first, then proceed with the surgery.

It was the throttle! It tested 2 volts at full speed, we found the magnet had come loose. Put it back together and it works like new.
The scooter is fast, a little too fast. 14mph for my six year makes me nervous. He rode it none stop for 5 hrs until the battery started getting low.
Thanks for your help.
