I am working toward a Century ride the first weekend in September. Last year I completed a Sprint Tri, and it was the first year back on a bike since I was a kid. I have done solo and group rides this spring, but none longer than 33 miles before this morning.
This was an MS ride (for Ice Cream) organized by MSFITS. I was among the last dozen or so riders to finish, but don't feel too bad about that. The day was beautiful - 65F to start, 74F at finish, low humidity, light wind - and the event was very well organized and run.:D

Huzzah! Good for you. Riding for ice cream - now that's motivation.

Good for you! That must feel really good to finish that distance ride. Hope the ice cream was good, next time insist they have PIE, too.

Way to go! If you are doing metrics now, I doubt if you'll have any problem with the full century.:thumb:

The first one seems like it comes with extra endorphins, doesn't it?! Congrats!

Great job. I did my first century last weekend on an MS ride. Great event. You'll be fine in September. I went for a super size chocolate shake rather than pie or ice cream:thumb:

So how are you this morning? and have you planned the recovery ride?
65 miles is one of the Markers to say that you are there. Few more and you will be able to one the next day if the opportunity arises. Even in my unfit state right now I could do one.
But from now on it gets more difficult. Keep up the metrics and the Full 100miler can be done. Won't say with ease but do one- then another and the next target comes into view of a double metric and a double century. The double metric is doable but get lights on the bike before attempting a 200 miler.

So how are you this morning? and have you planned the recovery ride?
Wrists and forearms are a little sore, thighs feel a little heavy, but overall I feel pretty good. I am planning a short (15 miles or so) ride this evening just to get some lactic acid out of the muscles.
Thanks, all for the kind words!

Very good. Metrics are good training rides for a century. Doing this distance once per month will build a strong base for your upcoming century.

Congratulations! I think I'd ride a 100K for an ice cream too.
