Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

In 79' as a Marine in the air wing I was stationed in Iwakuni Japan. That is where Mr. Doi of Doi Cycle Store put together the Torii Tourer I still have. 25" Yamaguchi Sports frame, Sugino 62/52 front sprocket with 171.5mm arms, Shimano !4/34 rear cassette. That works out to over 31.5 feet per rev. Front fork was changed out in 83' after damage to an Akisu fork. Bike is on Araya rims, with Suntour front derailuer. Rear deraileur is a long arm Shimano. Chain is Shimano 134 link. The gear set will displace 30 links from hi/hi to low/low. The Finish was trashed after umteen thousand hours of riding so I striped her down a month ago and started looking for parts to replace any damaged or worn out. First photo is from 79 when the bike was brand new. Second photo is from today. She is not quite done yet still wating on rear brake unit. Found a matching NOS center pull Shimano Tourney. Rest of the graphics are due Monday. 256470256471256472256473
This is a new one for me, and I always love it when the bike has a meaningful history for the owner. Love to see some larger, more detailed images when you get her finished. (A Flickr account - or similar - can really help with that part.)

Jinished the bike early in the week. Had all the graphics made local from artwork I generated using photos of origonals except the fork tube badge. That is a temp I made with vinyl layers. I am looking to have the badge made with 3-D printing. Made a few runs to adjust cables and a trip around the naborhood. Parked the bike after a fast down hill test run Thursday was closing up the shop when BOOM!!! Did the 1 second shakie dance when the rear tyre blew. I am taking these Kendas off. 90psi tyre was at 85psi. Ordered a pair of Gaterbacks.
