Bicycle Mechanics - Grease Gun for Speedplay and Chris King

I'm going to pick up a grease gun for use on my Chris King BB (using their BB grease tool), and on a pair of Speedplay pedals, but have a question about the tips. I've heard that the CK tool uses a standard automotive zerk, while the Speedplays need a needle of some kind. Not being familiar with these, I'm unsure if what I've heard about the CK tool is correct, and am also unsure what to look for in a grease gun. Are the nozzle tips in fact different, and if so, do grease guns typically come with an assortment of tips?

You can find something like this at most auto part discount stores, marine supplies, amazon, ebay, etc. This is just a random example but most I've seen include a zerk and needle tips. Just search for "mini grease gun". Shop around, I believe mine was under $14.

The Speedplays don't need a needle. You just take the screw out of the end and then jam a grease gun in there. The fitting we use is conical. It's not a perfect fit, and some grease will come out the side, but your old grease will be spewing out the other end anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

True enough. Conical would be the correct description but sometimes are labeled as needle fittings on the packaging.

Needle tip grease pump, I've gotten some that screw onto the plastic squeeze tube
that the grease comes in..

I also have one from Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/3-oz-mini-grease-gun-93486.html it also works good.

The Pedro's one works OK until you run out of (expensive) Pedro's grease.

Then instead of $10 for more Pedro's I went to the auto parts store and bought a mini grease gun and needle tip for $20. Refills are now $2.50.

+1 on the Harborfreight grease gun. I bought one, then drilled the grease orifice one size larger to get a grease flow rate I like. It works well, and the price is also great.

You can use other grease tubes I've used finish line and phil woods on it also threads are the same.

Save yourself some money and buy a syringe from Walgreens or the like. Pack it with grease. It works on everything bike related
