I'm so pleased...I've been working on climbing hills without popping a kneecap or lung. I live on top of a big hill, and today I made it all the way up. :D First time I've ridden all 13 miles of my commute, including the big hill at the end. I think I'm really a bike commuter.

 Yep. There's always a bigger hill. Or at least a steeper route. I didn't much care for the route I took yesterday...heavily trafficked through some heavy construction, right in the middle. Kind of stressful. People in cars are SO impatient anyway, but creeping behind a slow-moving bicycle taking the lane (because there is no safe place to the side) just puts them right over the edge into the realm of madness. Some of them, anyway. So, I'm going to try a less-trafficked, steeper route, next time.
I decided this morning while riding my scooter that it's the sensation of movement which we desire. I found myself feeling impatient with slow moving cars in front of me. Following that feeling...how different am I from the guy riding my tail on my bicycle, blowing the horn? Well, maybe there's a difference in that I'm not being as aggressive, but the seed feeling is the same. A sense of anger stemming from my perception of a slower vehicle being in "my" way. I like to move through space unobstructed. And for the most part, I can do that on a bicycle. If I'm aware enough of my feelings, I will confess to annoyance with stop lights & construction zones when I'm on my bicycle. Things in "my" way.
There's no point to these ramblings. I guess I've been thoughtful since yesterday morning, when a car, waiting for me to clear the intersection in order to turn right, honked its horn at me. What did the horn mean? Hurry up? A warning to let me know the car is coming, but the driver sees me? How much of a delay did I really cause, riding from one side of the intersection to the other? How fast should I have been going? I don't think I was doing anything wrong or weird. Again, thinking about that seed feeling of anger I was experiencing, myself. I want everyone to go at least as fast as I am, and get out of the way. Cars especially...like little rolling caves for which we feel this need to protect, somehow. Like a dog barking at the mailman, who has a legitimate right to be there, but the dog still gives warning. Hm.
