Recumbent - I want to see your bent pictures

Here ya go. These are before the tail box, when I was still using the orange safety flag and when I still had the old tail light.

I built a tail box, no longer use the flag and bought a new tail light. More pics. coming soon.

b_rider.....I have a Vision with a Cuda kickstand, but I can't keep it from toppling over. Do you have any problems with yours?

No I never have. It is possible that your kickstand is either to long or to short. I think you are supposed to cut them to lenght when you install them. I had my LBS put mine on. If your is to long then just cut it to the proper lenght, if it is to short, you'll have to get a new one probably.

Here is my Vision VR-40 USS w/suspension. I have the waterback on it, and I have added a water bottle cage to the front.

Notice the size of the tires... I ride this bike on the Katy Trail, crushed limestone, and the big tires help a lot.

I went to oversized tires also, but not because of road conditions.

I blew out a tube on 2001 Bike Florida trip and it was near impossible to get a 26x1.25" tube that would actually fit. I found several, but they had a wiggle in them after installation. I finished out the ride with an extra wiggle in my rear (HA) ;)

The 1.5 in the rear and the 1.75 in the front I can get ANYWHERE.

Finally got a picture of my 1998 Vision R-44. I have a set of Darcy bags on the back there...great for running errands. The plan is to try some touring this summer.

That's no "stock middle-age duffer", that's MY middle-age duffer and his wonderful bent with sound system.

Bentboy, the tail box on mine is for both storage and streamlining. As you can see from the pics it surrounds the Back Rack I have on the bike. On top of the rack and strapped to the back of the seat is the back pack I use for carrying my camel back, spare tubes, tools, etc.

With the tail box surrounding it, it acts as a trunk of sorts. The top of the tail box is seperate from the rest of it. It just sits on top and is held in place with duct tape along the top of the back or the seat. All I do when I need to get in the back pack is flip the top up and forward. The duct tape acts as a makeshift hinge and keeps the top from coming off. It will bounce when ever I ride over rought spots but it is not much if a annoyance at all.

WhenI get the front fairing built it will be more streamlined and I'm sure the tail box will act as a better streamliner then it is now.

Well, calling it a "sound system" might be a bit grandiose. Thanks for the welcome, Joe.

It was easy to do and not too expensive. Of course, it must add at least 12 ounces to the weight of the bike so I don't suppose any SERIOUS riders would consider doing this, but I figure if I ride this bike every weekend I ought to be able to lose 12 ounces and make up for it...

What I did was to buy a small pair of powered speakers ($20 for the pair) and tie-wrap them to the back of the seat, as shown. I'm not too worried if they get damaged or stolen, I can almost treat them as disposable. Then I bought a "car-ready" shock-resistant CD player. The CD player just sits in the basket, in a jogger's neoprene carrying belt. When I leave the bike, I unplug the speakers and take the player with me.

I get a nice stereo effect because the speakers are just a few inches from my ears. They do NOT interfere with my hearing cars. There's not much bass, but that's fine with me. The sort of music that seems appropriate to me for tooling around the neighborhood is light, gentle, mellow stuff--wind ensembles playing Percy Grainger if that means anything to you. End-of-a-lazy-summer-afternoon music. Quality MuZak.

Jean tells me some people call bents "inline wheelchairs." Well, think "inline La-Z-Boy" and you get where I'm coming from.

I have never tried to send a picture before so here I go! I had this cycle made in the hopes it would help my damaged back. I have put 225 miles on it in about three weeks. So far it seems to be helping a lot.

P38Karl were you cranking that trike thru Benicia state park about a week ago? I saw one like it and the guy had just taco'd his front wheel. Nice trike by the way!:)

I have only been on Sacramento city streets and the American River bike trail. The man who made mine has several others running around the country and there are several comercial companys that make them. Whoever it was I feel for them but am glad it wasn't I. Karl

This is brand new! Received it while I was away on the Cycle South Carolina tour.
Missed taking it by a single day. It is quick and responsive.

Looks great, Have you gotten used to being so low yet? I went out on a very windy day awhile back and got a lot of grit in my eyes. Had on my regular glasses, my wraparround cycling glasses might have helped. I also rode over a heavy twig and it came up and poked me in the leg. Things you don't think about until you get a trike. Car drivers seem to see me and so far give me a lot of room on the street but I get nervous riding through parking lots that they may back over me. Karl
