So I thought to myself - self - why are you incessantly clicking and trying to create your route? Google Maps will route you safely home with just one start address and one finish address. But NO! RidewithGPS took me home on the freeway. In California. Those drivers are crazy, including me when I'm on the freeway.

TBH, when I get lost I look to my maps app, find out where I am and look for somewhere where I know I can find a way home. Then I just go to that point. It might involve me looking it up a few times durring the ride, but it works.

I map it and drive it at least once, even with google. It is a must if you dont know the roads.

When you're drawing a map using RideWithGPS the first thing you need to do is find the control in the left side-bar that says "Optimize path for:" and make sure the "Cycling" button is checked. Despite the name of the site being RideWithGPS the default value is usually "Driving". That leads to some pretty poor road choices if you're on a bike...
