Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - new guy

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

You will notice this about bike shops. There are some that are run by people who look down their noses at non-jocks. In my experience, those are a minority. Most are run by people who are good enough business people to treat everyone with respect.

If I ran a shop, I would really pay attention to those you might need the help the most (in my case, it would be the bigger folks like myself). There is a smaller amount of fit riders and such but a larger amount of bigger folks who want to get into cycling. Plus they could become life long customers as well and it is cool to see them through their journey.
Example, the bike shop that is next to my house. They have been so nice to me even though both my bikes came from a different shop up north (because they did not carry Giant Bikes). They have done so much for me and I continue to support them with pretty much all of my bike needs. Great shop!
