Hi All,

Could someone with knowledge help me

I have just changed my MTB to a Hybrid and my wheel size has changed from a 26" wheel to a 700c wheel.

On the tyre the size shows 700x42c but the sales assistant sold me 700 x 35-40c inner tubes

Will these fit or is he pulling the wool over my eyes ??

Thanks in advance for your

Just re checked and the tyres are in fact 700 x 45c

I'd say that is close enough it will work.

I'd say that is close enough it will work.

Even though they are 45's running and running with a 35-40 c tube ??

Would I not be more prone to punctures etc ??

Thanks.

I suppose the tube stretching to fill a 700x45 tire will make it thinner, and ever so slightly more likely to be punctured, but the difference is negligible. I'm not saying you can throw a 700x23 tube in a 700x50 tire, but the tube and tire do not have to be the exact same width to work.

Thanks for the help.

I will keep the tubes as there don't seem to be too much risk

Thanks for the help

That's an inconsequential difference. Go for it.
