Haven't seen any threads about the upcoming Alta Alpina Challenge. It's less than a week away now.

I've done one session of Diablo repeats, rode the back half of the ride (both sides of Ebbetts, both sides of Monitor) ~10 days ago, and the front half of the ride (Kingsbury, Luther, Carson, Blue Lakes) last week. I think I've got my pacing down, and if I can hold it together for the whole ride, should be able to finish all the passes.

I'll be riding a recumbent :twitchy:, and when you pass (as will certainly happen on the uphills; as I told someone else if I'm going to haul it all the way up a hill, nobody is passing me on the way back down), say hi.

I am thinking about it. Last year Blue Lake was closed due to snow, with lots of snow at the peaks. This year heat rather than cold may be a factor. How is the road condition on Ebbets?

Ebbetts had most all of the rutty bits repaved/filled. I did hit a small one on the way down, but it was nothing like last year with the ruts + water.

I rode Blue Lake Rd for the first time last week, and it was as amazingly smooth/clean as I'd read.

88 was exactly the same as last year, though CalTrans was re-striping the road/ruts the day I was there.
