I just wanted to say hi from the Clearlake area of Houston, TX. I've been lurking here for a few months and I figured I'd finally post. I just got my first road bike a couple of weeks ago. I got a '05 Fuji Roubaix Pro. I'm planning on riding the MS150 from Houston to Austin in April. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone on this site. I've learned quite a bit in the past couple of months. Thanks again.

Hey GarrettM,
I'm contemplating a move to the Clearlake area of TX ... Clear Lake Shores, to be exact. How's the cycling down that way? Does it really rain every day? Road routes are plentiful? Flat? Hills? Do tell ... I'm very curious and semi-planning an exploratory trip ...

I've been down here for about 8 months now and have only been riding for a couple of weeks, so I may not be much help. There are a few LBS here in the area that I've found, and if you're willing to go into Houston there are quite a few more. It's pretty flat. The only "hills" I know of are the bridges and overpasses around here. As for road routes, I was hoping someone else on this forum could help out with that. So far, I've just been riding in local neighborhoods because I'm still a little hesitant to ride on the main roads with traffic. It doesn't rain every day. Maybe two or three days at most a week, and when it does rain it is not usually a downpour. If anyone from the area has any suggestions about riding routes or ride groups please feel free to drop your two cents.
