Hey with winter leaving in a month or two, I'm starting to get into bikes again, and I'm looking for some

uprades for my stumpjumper that are in a 15 year old's budget. I'm going to make it a hardcore XC bike,

meaning light, skinny parts. Here's some pics and a list of components you can't really see.

I was looking for discs, and I can get hayes for $200 bucks, front and rear, but mechanical discs are cheaper and lighter. Any suggestions?

Forks can get expensive, but I'll look. Anything in mind? I know a kid who's selling a set of '01 SIDS for dirt cheap. I don't know the specs, but think I should look into them?

SID is a nice fork, if you are a light rider. I know a person who rides an 01 sid, very good fork. I have an 04

I'm 100 pounds, it'll do :) .

Also, the SIDS don't really have any features (u-turn, lockout, ect) except for rebound adjust. This shouldn't be a problem, am I right?

well my 04 sid has lockout or "climb it control" as it says on the knob thing. It has rebound adjustement yea but i dont know why i would need U turn. ISnt that just a travel adjustement thing? I have never used a fork with U turn. THe sid only has 80mm of travel anyways. At 100lbs its good too becuase of the adjustability.

Shimano is fine up until the fricken XT, you have no idea how much that things locuks up or falls off on climbs. I need to buy an SRAM derailleur or just get an XTR rear derailleur.

mine? well hehe i scored, mine was leaking air on the negative side when i got it so i got it for just 125. (see other posts in search). But it turned out all it was was a valve core so it costs me 5 bucks to fix! 2 for the valve core replacements, a six pack. and 3 for the too. Though if it was functioning perfectly i would never have been able to afford it. It was practicly new too, still had the stickers and barcode on the steering tube. but for under 200 i have seen some older SIDs in good condition go if you can muster up the cash
