so, i added a tooth to the cog today...

having a kid (now 2.5yr) has put a serious dent in my riding. no more 7500ft centuries fixed, that's for damn sure. i finally admitted defeat and put on some plush 25mm tires and a (46/) 17t cog just now.

while i had everything apart, i did a quick detail and snapped a pic of the candy. seriously, if you come across a set of these (cane creek volos track) wheels, do not hesitate. the proprietary hubs have ~10k on them and are still impossibly smooth, and the 24/28 cx-ray build to CC-branded velocity aeroheads is reassuringly stiff. and the machining...well, you decide.

(grease was out & in the frame coincidentally, but when i noticed it i did then pose it...)

I had a chance to pick up a set of Volo's and passed on it because they were tubulars. I kind of regret it.

That looks unnecessarily fancy.

OP: Hows your phil wood cog? I am not sure if yours is worn in or not, but maybe you could give me some good feedback. I am not happy with mine. While it looks amazing: its really loud, even after 300+ miles and plenty lube on it. I have it with HKK Vertex chain and Zen chainring : (((((

Mmmmmm cane creek carbon....

~At the moment I primarily run philwood cogs with KMC 710sl chains and SG75 setups and I've found mixed experiences... on my steel commuter, it is dead quiet; but on my vigorelli, it's a literally a chainsaw when you throw in how aluminum does absolutely nothing to dampen noise/ vibration.

cog in the pic is brand new, but it replaced another with 3-4k on it. i rotate a couple 710 chains on it. 1/8" all around, dead straight chainline, lowish tension, chain-l lube and it is ninja silent.
