Well,
Thanks to info I got from reading here and my LBS I bought my first bike in probably 18years. Of course I weigh alot more than I did 18 years ago.
For those that did not read my first post, I am 31, Male, 6'3", 370lbs. From my old body building days, I need to lose a good 120lbs. That all being said...
I bought a Raleigh Talus Sport 29... Was a little more than I wanted to spend, but I really like the bike. For size purposes, I ended up with the XL frame. The large was a little too small to get comfortable.
My LBS added a bigger seat, metal pedals, and softer grips... Mostly just swapped out items. If I decide I want the better stuff, the. i will buy it.
I took it on 2 rides already. 1 for 3.75mi, and 1 for 3.95mi. I have been just averging 7.7mph. Just taking it easy for me.
Here is what it looks like, let me know what you think...

Thanks everyone... I've already logged 3 rides on it... 3.75mi, 3.9mi, and 4.71. Also been gradually increasing average speed.
Loving it so far... My first goal is to reach 10 miles in 1 ride...

nice bike. Love the colors.
Can you lock out the front shocks? They will suck needed energy out of your body so (imo) it is best to try to lock them out.

On the other hand, they take more effort to do the same distance, and since he's trying to lose weight, that means more exercise, right? ;)
Welcome to the forums. That's a great bike to start with. Even once you thin down and want something faster, this bike will be a great bike for riding off road. Good choice.

Yup... You can lock out the front.
The fork was the only part of the bike I did not like, but when locked, the front feels just as solid as a non-suspension front, so I figured it would do.
It's a beauty! Most important is that you love it and ride it! You'll get stronger and faster quite quickly-- but the best part is you'll feel just wonderful!
