Hybrid Bicycles - Air Pump Recommendations

Hi all,
I've had my bike for about a month now and I think I need to inflate my tires. I was planning on buying an air pump the day I take my bike for its first month tuneup (this weekend). Are there any pumps you would recommend? I don't think I need one to mount on the bike (but I would get one if that is what I need to get), the only requirement I would like to have is that it has a built in pressure gauge.

Any ideas?

My Topeak Road Morph pump has a gauge on it--not the easiest to read, but it works well and seems to be accurate--and it doesn't have any problem pumping up my 700x28c tires to 85+ psi. It is a frame mounted pump, but that's a plus in my book. I mounted mine on one of my seat stays.

Get a floor pump with a gauge. Inner tubes leak, and I have to pump my tires up about once a week. After a month yours are likely to be quite low.

A small pump for your bike or a CO2 inflator is good to have with you in case you get a flat on the road, but they are a pain to use and take some time and effort to get a tire to pressure. You really need both the floor pump and a pump to take with you.

Floor pump with gauge. You can look at reviews on Amazon. I would spend enough money to get one that you can take apart and lube. I bought a cheap all plastic one and eventually the oring wore out from sitting in the garage for many years. I have Joe Blow Sport. Once I figured out how to use it properly with a presta valve, it's great! Get whatever is on sale at your LBS.

Joe Blow pumps are not expensive and very good.

I'd HIGHLY recommend having a "floor pump" for home use and a "on bike pump" for those times to far from home!!!
1. Joe Blow Max, floor pump, inexpensive and very usefull, have had mine for 3 years and it's perfect!
2. Topeak Road Morph, on bike pump, it's really nice to have a hand pump that works like a floor pump with the built in gage and it pumps 100+ PSI tires without killing you! jmho, ymmv.

I have been using a hurricane floor pump from Performance Bike for 3 years now and have had no issues with it. They have all their Hurricane pumps on sale today only at 50% off.

I have a SKS pump for a few years. I think the pump has a lifetime warranty because I've called about a broken head and they sent me the parts free in the mail. The pump feels solid, the base is a heft chunk of steel.

Just make sure the pump is compatible with both Shrader and Presta valves. I've seen some cheap pumps that only work with Shrader before.
