Guys,

Just wanted to share this video with you....first off, always wear a helmet. This is a video of one of my buds riding his Pinarello Dogma 2 limited edition with Campy EPS on lightweights.....he went a little too hot on the corner then.........you gotta watch the last 20 seconds.

Looks like he locked up his rear wheel. Seems you were teaching him how to descend. Did you bother teaching him how to brake?

<edit below>
Wow, just watched the video a 2nd time. Yep, sounds like he popped the back tire which caused him to go down. It looked like he locked the wheel and started skidding. But yeah, that's definitely a blowout.

first skid busted the sidewall then second time was a blowout then then when the carbon wheel hit the pavement....all over

Well, that flat out sucks.... thanks for sharing.

Aside from his wheel, any other irreparable damage?

After any significant skid, always stop and inspect the tire. It doesn't take much to wear through to the cords. I also discovered this fact the hard way, though not as hard as this poor guy.

I'm confused. Orlando is your bud? But you're posting vids of him crashing on the internet with the humiliating title How not to ride a $20K Pinarello Dogma 2 limited edition down GMR?

With friends like this, who needs enemas?

Besides $8,500, what's the difference between a regular $11,500 Dogma 2 and a limited edition $20,000 Dogma 2?

We all need someone who'll be there to point and laugh.

The first skid sounded strange, not like a tire skidding. We hear the tire pop and the rim hitting asphalt. What is the damage report, human & machine?

wow... that was a great view of the action. glad the rider was ok, and looked like the bike survived(ish)

Orlando is a nice guy. he wants this to be a learning tool for us

i believe there was no major damage on the bike except for a scuffed saddle. rider had some road rash

What the heck was the cameraman doing, giving that rider "descending tips"? Sheesh, if you need practice descending, wouldn't it be better to do so on a cheaper bike? BTW, some of those corners looked really shaky, see :27, for instance. The rider probably held a death grip on the bars, and using too much muscle to control the turn, rather than relaxing a little.

the "cameraman" is a pretty damn good cyclist (check his other video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt4RwfCSedQ&feature=channel&list=UL)descending GMR), i think he is qualified to give descending tips

didn't listen to it with sound (at work) so i missed a lot of info apparently

one of the many sad parts is the rider will never know the joy of upgrading

+1000....any type of foul play or even a sign, STOP for inspection. A slight skid on GMR can wipe off inches of rubber from a tire.

Hope the guy was alright.

Well, next time I ride the disk brakes going down a steep hill, I will feel like a regular fount of wisdom instead of a doofus.

He should talk to the kids in my neighborhood. They can skid like 10 feet and not blow a tire.

There are only 4 or 5 turns you need to brake on GMR, the one he was on definitely isn't one of them.

I'm a newbie back into this, and on a new bike. I'm going to brake on a LOT of them, thank you very much! :D

Whoa, went to Competitive Cyclist, chose the most expensive options and got up to $18,500 before tax and shipping. My wife never says anything when I buy bike stuff but that would probably change if I brought home a bike that cost more than my car.

Start bringing your bikes home in more expensive cars.

See? There's a solution for everything. :D

If that's all you're braking, you're not going fast enough.

Those new video cameras in high definition are the greatest. That's what Mr Beanz needs (and maybe wants). I wonder if there's a way that the bike computer can connect to the video, so that we can see the speed and elevation as the ride is recorded and played back.

He's reinvented himself to be some sort of spokesperson for cycling and anti-doping. His comments on Velonews and Twitter are ridiculously ironic.

Please, don't tempt me...the Colnago is the most recent addition and Mrs. eja_bottecchia is getting a bit testy about it.

maybe Mrs Eta needs a nice roadie to keep your company? In roadie-land, does buying a bike for the wife count as an N+1? Or is that separate.

Your bike looks a tad lonely, that's all. :D

Just caught this video. Thanks for sharing it as I am pretty cavalier about descending, never thinking much about a blowout, pushing too fast...I'm going to concentrate a lot more now that I'm older.
