Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - decent chainring?

can someone tell me what brand chainring is decent? i am looking to spend maybe $50. more specifically 44t, 144mm bcd, 3/32.

Only thing that comes to mind is Blackspire or Dura-Ace. You'd have a lot more options if you went with 1/8.

If your chain is 3/32" now, a new chain (1/8") is all you would need. You can use a 1/8" chain on 3/32" cogs/rings.

I just got a blackspire chainring, 144bcd 3/32 51t. It looks great, weighs in at 200g on my scale although I don't know if that's light or heavy for chainring. edit: I was kind enough to take me miche ring off and weigh it. Miche is 95g. So since the blackspire ring is twice the weight I'll likely drill some holes in it to cut that down and give it more flare.

I am using it to replace my miche advanced primato 47t chainring. The biggest differences I notice so far without having installed it yet is that the blackspire is just a flat piece of aluminum, where as the Miche has lots of different shapes on the back like this http://www.urbanspokes.com/201-677-thickbox/brev-m-messenger-chain-ring.jpg

And if you don't mind jumping to 1/8th, this site (http://www.modernbike.com/itemgroup.asp?IGPK=2126194042) has FSA rings for cheap. Here is a 45t for $53. I didn't see a 44t but you can check again. They have a great customer service department too for both phone and email.

I use an All-City ring. It gives me no problems and looks pretty cool too.
Only comes in 1/8" but also comes in colors.
Just $45 shipped. Compared to what, $80+ for a Sugino Messenger ring?

How do you fellas feel about aluminum vs stainless steel? I just bought another aluminum, was considering stainless, but I had concerns with gulling, even though the extra hardness of stainless would resist wear.

Pretty sure Origin8's Beck-130 is available in 144bcd. I have the 130 44t in silver and have no complaints about it.

I feel that one the weight of a steel chainring would be killer, and two that with an aluminum chainring and a steel cog, they end up wearing out at about the same time, which is nice for chain wear and all that.

Some people have a budget. Zen's are great but at $150 a pop, that's $600 on a set of four.

For $50 the only thing you should consider are FSA chainrings. They are the best bang for the buck in that price range.
