He had taped up the vent holes on top, which isn't all that crazy, but he had taped on a clear piece of plastic on the front, as a windblock for his eyes. What a fabulous idea! I'm gonna do it.

Yes I learned this from the Brit's. But it wasn't enough for my cold noggen. I added a polar tech liner on the inside of the helmet (using double sided tape and the back of an old fleece shirt)

I use this -- pretty good, especially for light rain and wind. Isn't that effective in very cold weather (tho I continue to use it) since wind gets in around the top. I could put more velcro on to block that wind leakage but it doesn't annoy me enough to bother.

I wear sunglasses.
What you should do is velcro a piece of flexible clear plastic around the ears on the helmet.
