Luckily it wasn't too bad. I was at a red light, with 2 cars behind me, I'm turning left. Light turns green and when I step on my pedal, my ass end kicks way out and I do a knee plant on the spot. My boss was 2 cars behind me and we had a laugh when we got to work. The shame of bailing is way worse than the actually impact on my knee.
I almost did that in the wet one day last summer. Back tire was on a pavement marker and I spun the wheel. Spooked me for a sec but then I was amused.
Is your knee okay? Hopefully it won't get progressively more sore...

it stung at first, and i could still feel it a bit when I got to work, but moving it around and applying pressure now causes absolutely no discomfort, so i guess i got lucky.

I had one last week. It was raining and cold. I was commuting to work and crossing the Brooklyn Bridge on a bike path with a walk lane. The entire section is made of wood. I was trying to dodge some pedestrians by shifting weight and leaning. Leaning is not good on wet wood that I found out. I rode a 28lb MTB with semi street tires. Basically, the side of the tires with knobies took the full weight. I lost traction. I went down side way (right side) HARD and ending up sliding for some 10 feet. My right hip took the full impact and I brusied some muscle. I was going about 18 mph or so.
