Its a bit off topic but I want to say that today is our 36th anniversary. We have had some really good times, have 2 wonderful children and she has stuck by me in some horrendous times with my health the last 12 years. She is my riding partner (repaired her flat tire on her Trek 7300 while she was gone yesterday:thumb:, bicycle content:innocent:) and my partner in life. Thanks Monica, for making me a very happy and lucky man.

Bill, you are a lucky man but you know that. My wife is Monica also, must be something in the name eh? A very happy anniversary, and more to come.

Congratulations! I only made it 21 years the first time around. If that one had lasted, our 35th would have been this year. Wasn't my choice to end the first one, but it is what it is.
Anyway, have a great day, and look forward to many more anniversaries.

Only at 29 years for me and I know exactly what you mean about a partner for life. Wife tells me that I'm stuck with her and what the wife says is right. Wish she would ride with me, but it's not her thing.

You're a lucky man. Congrats.

Congratulations. As someone approaching 30 years, marriage is a very tough and wonderful thing, I know what a big deal it is for you!

Both my wife and I are more fit than we were in our 20s when we met. Faster? No. But able to enjoy riding, hiking, skiing, etc. longer, further, higher, etc. than then. She keeps saying I must not want to ride with her because she's "so slow", but what's better than enjoying an active sport with your spouse? She's patient with me when I'm stupider than her, I'm patient with her when she's slower than me.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Posts on topics like this are not at all off topic. These kinds of posts are precisely ON topic, because it's so we can celebrate events like this that we participate in this crazy sport. Cycling may well have saved my life when I was fighting colon cancer. In the absence of cycling, I may not have been able to celebrate my 30th anniversary this year. Many others here have battled health troubles way worse than mine, and cycling is a big part of why they also are still here. The point (or at least a big point) of cycling at our age is to improve our quality of life, and to enjoy the 36th anniversary, the 46th, 56th, and more. So, Bill, no more of this OT stuff. And a hearty congratulation to you and Monica.

Congrats, newlyweds. :) (We got married 1973.06.23, as did two other UCLA couples we knew. No regrets here, either, just the same steady girl for 43 years and counting.) I never forget our anniversary, since it comes exactly 3 weeks after my wife's birthday and 9 weeks before mine.

Thanks everyone, we had a great dinner at Carrabbbas last night. Fine Cabernet wine and good Italian food, mmmmmmm:thumb:. At least on one sent Monica a sympathy card like my dad's men did to my mom one year:rolleyes: I gottcha Kurt, I agree with you and Miss K' about the OT on these threads. Denver's thread was welcome. Everyone have a super 4th of July. Stap, you just plain have a great day, enjoy watching the TdF.
