Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - New single speed...looking to change up some things...need a bit of help

So I just picked up a new singlespeed is a dawes sst al http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/dawes/sst_al_carb_x.htm

My goals is simply to just ride around my neighborhood, maybe to work on some nice sunny days and when we visit my in-laws, and maybe in and around town on Sunny days...so I wanted something decent but not nothing to fancy...I did a lot of research and I thought this had a lot of good features, aluminum frame vs. steel, carbon for, double cnc wheels, formula hubs and brakes, etc.

I want to swap some stuff out, including powder coating the frame...but the first order of business is to swap out the handle bars for bullhorns and I want to do different brake handles...Im not sure what sizes and how I tell, so I was hoping that someone might be able to help me out with how to determine the size of bars I need and if I can just use any sort of brake levers and just cut down the cables?

For the bullhorns, your bike sits on 26s, so these will work:

The 25.4s will work as well, but may require a shim to bring it up.

And the brakes, I am unsure of because it does not show the diameter measurement. If you get that bullhorn, I suggested, you should be able to fit 24mm brake levers on there.

Do you have the weight? Bikesdirect said it weighs around 18 lbs for a 54 cm but they were guesstimating.

If you buy those size 26.0 Origin8 bullhorns that were linked above, you need size 26.0 levers if you want to mount them next to the stem.
If you want TT levers (time trial, those mount in the bar ends), those bars accept those as well.
So you need to decide if you want cross levers, TT levers, or both.

But I'm not convinced the OP isn't another troll, to be honest.

With new levers there is always a pretty good chance you will have to get new cables and anew housing as well. The cable is cut really close to minimum with that set up, so often times you will not have enough room to run it to the new levers. But running brake cable is one of the easiest things to do. You just have to make sure you have a good wire cutter.

Seriously.

Get a pipe cutter, turn the drops into bullhorns.

Two brakes? Get a set of universal (mountain and road) cables w/ housing. You can't cut down road cables for those brake levers. Do a search to see how cables are properly installed.

You'll need new bar wrap, unless you plan on reusing the old stuff.
