It is rather quiet on the east side of Indianapolis. Seems that our fireworks ban due to drought is being taken to heart.

I haven't heard a single bang this evening. Then again, the grass is so dry here it's like tinder soaked in gasoline.

Constant here, almost a roar. Ban in place, but nobody seems to care. I imagine the fire dept will be busy.

Never mind that it's illegal here, the neighbors (more accurately, the neighbor's adult children) started lighting them up right after we got both kids into bed... ugggh. They know we have an infant and a toddler in here and have been given a ration of crap accordingly. Idiots.

That's the problem in a nutshell... the infants and toddlers of today grow into teens, who light off fireworks late into the night, which disturbs the sleep of the infants and toddlers!

It was rather quiet here compared to past years. All I heard was the city's show. And that's launched over L. Michigan so the fire risk is negligible.
Coulda been worse. My neice said San Diego's show went off all at once...in about 9 seconds. Holy carp!

Heard a fair share of booms last night, no bans in Texas this year, but I thought they were still illegal within city limits. The dog was fine when we were inside, but less sure about all of it when I took her out for her evening walk around 9:30.

We had that happen on the barge on Lake Wawasee, back in the early 70's. Back then, the FD did the display, and suddenly, about 40 minutes from the end, all the firemen went diving off the barge and swimming like hell was chasing 'em. 40 minutes worth of fireworks went off in 1 second. Best finale ever been done!

We had dinner with a friend on the third, and she asked if we'd seen her daughter on the news earlier. Her daughter works for some fire safety group, and had been slightly injured earlier that day during a demonstration on fireworks safety while standing way back from the fireworks.
