Hybrid Bicycles - What do you think of this bike?

Seems like it has pretty good components for the price. Would you recommend it to go riding on the shoulder of a highway for about 11 miles and back at most a 25 mile round trip.
Opinions?

Wellington seems like a good bike, I would go with that one.

If it doesn't fit it's not worth a hooey.

The Wellington has a 8 speed cassette, while the Nashbar FB1 has a 9 speed cassette. However, it doesn't seem that the Nashbar frame has any rear rack braze-ons, as the Wellington does. Another difference is the flat bar/drop bar option. Which one do you prefer?

But the previous poster is right, it doesn't appear that the FB-1 has a place to connect a rear rack. That is surprising if true. I actually have an FB-2 arriving sometime today and it definitely has them. I wouldn't have bought it if it didn't. You can clearly see them in the picture:

But most of those `hybrids` have at least V Brakes. There doesn`t seem to be one MTB component on either of those bikes.

I had to go back and look at the FB-1 and I guess you are right. Surprising because I just received the FB-2 last weekend and it has V-Brakes. Mini-V, but still V. The FB-2 is basically the same as the FB-1 he listed with a few upgraded components.

There seems to be little consistancy with models regardless of the company. When I bought my Badboy back in 2007 there was very limited model choice which was I guess a blessing. I think the biggest culprit of variations is TREK. I can`t keep up (and now don`t bother) with the endless choices they have created, going by the endless daily threads on `which TREK --- should I buy?`

By the way, here in Japan we don`t have categories like hybrid, comfort, urban etc...They all have one name...Cross Bike.

My wife picked up the Badgirl 3, she really digs it. I got the Trek 7.1 fx I really like it.
Trek does have a boatload of bikes to choose from. Heck the 7.x line has the stagger, lance armstrong, 7.1-7.9 models alone.
