No, not as in that ride was "sick," or that was an "ill" trail ride, I mean under the weather physically distressed, sort of ill.

I have ridden with the flu, and a cold, headache, toothache, and fared okay. Tonight I have some sort of GI tract thing going on, and it is most uncomfortable, and the only way home is the bike, with snow falling, the weather should be okay, a low of 21, but it's the pedalling and the cramps, and well the distress with the worry that I may not make it home without an accident. I'm just glad I am not wearing bibs tonight. It would be a warm feeling for a short time. I am reminded of a sick joke about a hunter in a Carhart overall, and ... well, you get the idea...

So, what ailments have you found yourself having to survive on the commute?

I had something like flu come on while at work, but it was more headache and back ache. It was several years ago so I forget the details, but it wasnt winter, so I stopped and lay on the grass several times to recover. Instead of a 70 min ride home it took over 2 hrs. I left work early so I wasnt riding with the rush hour crowds. I think you should drink plenty of water during the day as you dont want to be dehydrated.

Naisme I had that same thing happen to me last week except I was riding in and just felt bombed. I had no strength left. I attributed it to riding too soon after doing my double century but I came down with what it sounds like you have. Took me four days to shake it and one and a half of those days I ran a mild fever as well. I found 15 miles wasn't too bad but 25 about killed me.

I'm just taking the time off. I'm ill with the flu, and I don't want to comromise my recovery. I'll be back next week. :)

since my main symptom of illness is usually shortness of breath, I don't ride or work ill. I don't get sick as much when i commute by bike as I did when I went by car, but today, for instance, I am at home so I can breathe. talking or exertion lead to bronchitis type cough, so I am not interested in pushing it.
