It finally hit 100 F here in Grand Rapids. Yeah, I know, no big deal for you folks down south. But if you listen to the news folks this is the beginning of the end! So far I haven't seen the "fry an egg on the asphalt" story yet.
By the way, it was a wonderful bike ride this afternoon! :)

Glad you are enjoying it. To me it feels like I'm riding in a blast furnace.
Frying an egg on the sidewalk is old hat. The trend now is to bake a pizza inside a car, which a local pizza joint was featured on 'Good Morning, America' doing this past Monday.

I was actually surprised by the number of people out biking/walking this afternoon. Thought I would be the only one, 3 bicyclists and 2 walkers. Guess I wasn't the only one out enjoying the weather!

The high temperature has topped 100 here 6 out of the past 7 days, and it's forecasted to continue through the weekend. I'm sick of it!
I waited until it was over 100F to run today, so I set a personal record for running in higher temperature than I've ever done before -- 105F and not a lick of shade. I usually avoid the heat as much as possible but I am moving north so I may never get the chance to run in such heat again.
I thought I'd be the only nutcase out there. Nope, there were 4 other runners and a few on bikes and more than that walking.
100 in northern Indiana. Not stopping me from riding!
We've had daytime highs near or above 100F for the last week. Seems like everyone just gets used to it. Lot of recreational riders early in the morning.

It was 105 on the 4th. Not surprisingly, there were few cyclists on the River Trail when I rode it in the middle of the afternoon.

High 90s and sometimes over 100 for more than a week here. But yesterday morning, I got out early and rode to breakfast at IHOP before it heated up. Mid-80s and I'm feeling very comfortable. No commuting for me in this weather - the morning's okay, but the trip home would be murder - but next week it's supposed to be cooler so I'll get back to it.
Hot in NYC too with temps around 100F. Yesterday morning was the worst so far.
Connecticut has been bouncing between low 90s/high 80s and 100 degrees since June. It's only bad when the humidity is so high. Went for a recreational ride on the 4th though, and as long as you stay hydrated, you just end up with a stellar tan :P

High of 64 today. And sunny of course. Advance forecast says that it might hit 68 next week.
I love California! :thumb:
EDIT: forgot to add that it will probably be the same temperature in January.

Here in Houston that's an average summer. If I didn't commute when it was in the 90's, I'd not commute from June-September.
I'd sure like to live in a cooler part of the country.

Fun fact: The alt-code for the degree symbol is 0176 (hold the alt key and type '0176').

Every computer I've ever tried it on also gives you the degree symbol with [alt]248. This only works with the number keys on the right of the keyboard, not the ones on the top. Therefore, if you're using a laptop with no separate number keys on the right, you have to hold down the function key for the embedded number keypad to be active.
Sometimes if you're in a web context where the Fn or the Alt key does something you invoke something unwanted, such as deleting the email that you're typing. :D
Here is Southern California, it has been a weird summer so far. July has been June Gloom, meaning overcast and cool in the AM and into the 80's in the PM. Not that I am complaining just yet. I love my electric bill. However, I am sure that we will get our 100+ temps soon enough. It still does sizzle here.

Without the normal humidity it doesn't seem as stressfull, although it feels super hot. I'm ready for the forecasted cooldown next week.

I didn't mind the temps last week 90-95 with 20% humidity. I'm from Owosso (east of Grand rapids). This 99 + 60% humidity is for the birds (or maybe crocodiles).
Forecast says it will get up to 98 on Monday in my area. Not gonna stop me!

I've been commuting and hitting the trails around Grand Rapids still the last few days.. the heat doesn't stop me. Big bug problem today on the White Pine though this evening, around 6. Could NOT get them trailed off me, even at 20+mph I'd look behind me and still see them trailing behind to attack my head. Had to hop off. Anyone have any solutions besides better timing? :P

Its hit 100 here every day here for the past week i think.
Today i had to visit my LBS, and i was dripping when i got to the store....their AC felt so good...
Im new to cycling , i knew it would be harder to ride in heat compared to the cooler days, but i didnt expect it to be that hard......nothing says heat like opening your door and it feels juuuuuuuuuuuuust like you're checking the oven

102° yesterday (Friday July 6) in Nashville. It was 109° the Friday prior.
I've rode my bike to work every day since May 21.
It's not been as bad as it sounds.

A stop at Taco Bell first? Some well timed gas release may take care of the problem...just make sure nobody is following you! ;)
Actually on the weekends, my wife and I will bike Kent Trails in the early morning just to avoid those pesky little things!

As long as the weather is not to crazy hot in the central vally (CA) Monterey has beautiful weather, when we hit the 105 mark Monterey gets wicked foggy :p Loved my trip out there last year even with all the fog LOL but it was better than being in Fresno LOL

105 on my last ride. Honestly, it doesn't really bother me, I just keep moving and drink more water. I start carrying water at about 80, at about 95 I start carrying two bottles. At 105 I get about 1/4 into the 2nd bottle at the end of my 15 mile ride.

Hah, Somehow I doubt that would work, they were so determined. If I managed to speed up and get them to stop attacking me, they'd instead cling to the girlfriend. Never experienced that problem before Friday.

It was 100 degrees for the last 5 days here in Baltimore, Md. I commute 5 days a week on the bicycle. However, this past Friday, I called in sick because of the heat. My co-workers were worried about me during the week. I still was showing up on the bicycle in 100+ weather. They were saying my wife should have drove me to work. On the contrary. I had to almost fight my wife to allow me to go to work on the bicycle. Commuting is like DOPE to me. ;)
This week, temps will be in the 90s, maybe high 80s..Perfect riding/commuting weather.. ;)

I hear ya... I get pretty ticked when I'm forced to miss a good commuting day when company necessities intervene (I drive a company vehicle, sometimes I need to bring it to work; other times I need to travel out of town, a little far for biking).
This afternoon it went from 'feels like' 104° to 84° in 1 hour.
I'm not gonna lie, I didn't ride during this heat wave...twas brutal
I welcome the "normal" temps
It feels like Michigan resort weather here today at 87 after eight straight record-setting days in the 100s.
My bike computer has registered 128 degrees when I first mount up after work. One day, the lowest reading I got on my ride home was 105.
The morning rides have been tolerable throughout the heat wave. The rides home have been pretty ugly -- especially when you catch a long red light with no shade.
100° all week in Sac. I just drink lots of water
