Hello, planning on doing three or fours days of road cylcing in the finger lakes, staying in one hotel (maybe two) and doing day rides out and back. Would like some other facilities also, like restaurants. Any recommendations? Right now looking at Ithaca and Geneva. Geneva is closer to us, but Ithaca seems to have more hotel choices and I have found more route maps for Ithaca.

Would like easy access to quiet roads. Might drive 30 minutes or so to another start location for variety for one day.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Reach out to IthaDan on this forum, he lives on Cayuga Lake in Ithaca.

The Statler on Cornell's campus just got 4 stars. Say Hello to Rick Adie, the GM. The campus itself is gorges (pun intended). So is Robert Treman State Park, where you can swim at the limestone falls. The Cornell Dairy Bar ice cream is better than MSU's!

Try Moosewood Cafe, one of the nations oldest vegetarian restaurants in downtown Ithaca.

There are some great wines now produced in the region, not the Taylor/Great Western swill of my youth.

Get out on the water too if you have a chance!

Summer is the best time in the region, and as a student, I left Ithaca for great resort destinations like Nantucket, Marblehead, and Litchfield CT.
