cranky old dude

I seldom ride this road during mid-summer, but I was out before sunrise and the MUP’s are dark and very bumpy so there I was. Cruising peacefully along through the quiet neighborhoods on streets seemingly devoid of human activity I spied the “winker”.
Yup, there was no doubt about it. I was being winked at. This caught me completely off guard. Being a somewhat curious fellow, I naturally slowed down and gave the “winker” a good looking over as I rode by. Pretty good looking, for sure! Now I have lost a significant amount of weight recently and I’ve been feeling quite full of myself so I decided to turn around and check this out in depth. I circled the block and approached from the opposite direction this time. I was getting winked at again. Though it was obvious that this little number had been ‘around the block’ a few times so to speak, it was still lust at first sight. On an impulse I pulled over and hopped right off my bike and even I was surprised at how flexible and agile I have become due to the weight loss. The “winker” was mine. It’s so good to feel youthful and adventuresome again!
Not everyone would stop and follow through like I did this morning. This type of reaction is not for everyone and some folks actually frown on it. Fortunately my wife is a very understanding woman and she forgives my little weaknesses. In fact, I thought I actually saw a hint of a smile as I relayed this morning’s pickup experience to her. She truly understands me.
So, in case anyone is at all confused about this morning’s little thrill…here’s a little pic of the “Winker”. I’m guessing my headlight set on the strobe setting must have triggered the whole affair.

It felt so wonderful to be able to deftly scoop this little sucker up without having to pre-plan and carefully execute the bending over motion required to retrieve this little trinket.
I can’t wait until I finally reach my target weight. As I boldly rush through my sixties I’m getting leaner and feeling stronger, fitter, and younger every day.
Today is a good day
