We set out today to do a longer ride than our usual 42. Been talking about increasing the mileage so today was the day. From the Leaky Fountain we headed inland past Gypsum staying on the north side of the river. I thought about Green River but I just don't like crossing the glass filled bridge at Gypsum. Besides the 54 was enough for us today. We took it easy on the ride today but funny thing is we did the longer mileage at just about the same average as our usual ha ha! I asked the gals if they felt the difference of the slightly easier pace. They agreed on the ride but after the ride, same average, Hmm!
Getting close to the southernmost wooden bridge we were caught by Ron & Dixie on their tandem. So they cruised with us for a while to the coast and stayed for a short visit. We were looking forward to the tailwind on the return but where the heck did it go? Even the flag in the video shows a weak breeze on the return but a good headwind heading to the coast. Bummer and my legs were feeling it. GMR on Wednesday and extended mileage today? Either that or I'm just getting old.
Alex2 was at the coast too. Stayed long enough for a BIG smile then headed to LB to get in what I'm sure is another 100 miler. Alex2 seems to have a smiling problem. We've had fun listening to his stories about his wife getting upset when he doesn't smile for family portraits. She'd like this smile but I'm guessing she won't be happy and will have a few words for poor Alex..."why do you smile for Mr. Beanz?" ha ha!

I cross the gypsum bridge twice every ride, 3-4 times a week, and haven't ever noticed any issues with glass.
If you had crossed, you'd see all the changes to the trail they're making. I still can't tell if its going to get extended past green river yet, but they're certainly moving it around some. The change that's about to open in the next week or two will give me a whopping extra 20 ft of climbing each ride. :D
I was out there today too, but did my ride a bit later than you. Got into a friendly race with somebody out towards green river - haven't had that much fun on a SART ride in weeks.

.
I rarely go across the bridge anymore. I think the last time we went was last year during a Ford car show. There was glass then and there was glass the first time I crossed it way back in 94. We crossed it several times up until 2003 when I decide it just wasn't worth riding that section.
There were horse corals way back then, a moto cross track and lots of dirt. I know all that has changed since then but the glass has been there every time I have crossed.
But again, the last time was last year so maybe they have changed something. But I will say that the dude Ron (on tandem) knew zactly why and what I was talking about when I told him that we stayed north of the river.
Maybe they have made changes in the last year, I hope so! :D

Strange. I've been riding it for 2 years now (almost my 2 year cycling anniversary! I'm gonna buy my bike a card), and I've never had issues there. I guess there probably is some glass, but didn't you recently switch to the magical GP4000S's? You'll be fine.

Yup, used jerseys. He has a business on the net (I don't member the site). Sells them pretty cheap, I think one of the signs says $9.99 on up. We stopped once last year to check them out (park at 405) but he had nothing in 2XL. He also had some more expensive stuff, autographed stuff. By who, I dunno but it was signed.:D

I bet he does well right there. 2xl are hard to come by, bike clothing and shoes are a crap shoot anyways, for sizing.

Strava says I've done the bridge about 160 times. What will you bet that you'll flat on your first try? :p

We were there for quite some time. We left cause it was getting late, thought maybe you flatted or something on the way to or from LB. We were like the very last people there ha ha!
