With a little modification that could be made into a snappy vertical bicycle rack instead. :D

We're in the market for our first house so we've been watching a lot of it lately. All the problems they find on every house they renovate has me scared.

Easy breezy ... a few pieces of pipe and some planks!
The 70's college dorm room library reinvented ... :thumb:

Duct tape and cardboard should do the job nicely.

It will stay that uncluttered about 1 day around my wife.
Day 2 there will be unopened mail laying on it.
Day 3 there will be folded clothes on it.
Day 4 there will be spray bottles of household cleansers on it.
Day 5 there will be 5 golden eggs on it.
Day 6 there will be blah blah blah blah ad infinitum.

Just got back from the big box hardware store. Dry fitted all the stuff. Still have to buy the wood for the shelves.

No slam on your "craftsmanship", but the original looked like crap. You've replicated it nicely.

Ouch!

I hate home shows! The host prattles on how easy everything is while his squad of pros do the actual work in the background. It's porn for women.

Watch a few episodes of Holmes Inspection, and see all the crap that home inspectors miss. :twitchy:

Nothing scares me more than when my wife starts off with "We need to......" because I know it's going to cause me much angst, work, and agitation to complete a project that A) requires a skill I don't have, B) requires tools I don't have, and C) I honestly do not see the point and it will never budge the needle on my "give a damn" meter. I will end up making numerous trips to Home Depot for tools, researching multiple websites for information on "how to", and trying to answer questions why the project is taking so long. Then after all that when the project is finally completed I will hear "Wasn't that easy?"

With a few more fittings and a heat source, the shelves could double as a still.

You have been asking for your discount, right? Home Depot and Lowe's both offer a 10% discount to active and former military. They don't advertise it much, but from all accounts, it's a legit policy.

So when you want something really bad, do you have to do yourself?

My wife would crap a twinkie as soon as she saw the bill on those black iron fittings. She's incredibly cheap.
