Where are you in FL? I am getting there in about a week and then plan to start touring. I'll probably go from Miami to the west coast somewhere. Training for the big trip.

After many years living overseas and touring the damn world from 1998-2000, I am ready to see good ol' Americana and am gonna tour New England and the east coast, concentrating on Civil War and Revolutionary War sites. Plus I love the appalachians; forested hills and lots of places to just wild camp.

I'm on the west coast just north of St. Pete. Southern Florida can be bad touring due to traffic and older, tentative drivers; especially on the west coast.
I've found that the more northern area of FL to be the best. Attended the Bike Florida 2002 last month. It covered 350 miles from Gainesville to Tallahassee. It was a terrific ride. Drivers were so courteous, I was in disbelief.

Some riding on Sanibel island in Florida in June, GRABAAWR first week of July, then RAGBRAI
Have been toying with an idea of a big ride, self supported tour. First idea was to ride from Minneapolis to Atlanta the end of June. Then my Mother decided to move to Arizona, and the thought comes that a ride to AZ could be fun.
At the end of August my lease is up, and I've wanted to get out of the frigid northern climes, to someplace I can ride 24/7. Ideally that would be San Deigo.
That's where it is standing now. I've got the trip to Atlanta all charted. I am thinking of AZ even more, with a stop in Denver, to see relatives there. If I leave mid to late August, I'll be arriving, hopefully in cooler weather.
