Hello everone,

I have only been living down in north county san diego for a short time and I have not had a chance to get affiliated with any local shops around here. I need to get a tune up and a couple other things done too my bike.

I was hoping that any of you that live down here can point me in the right direction to a shop that is friendly, down to earth and doesn't just look at you as a $$$ sign.

Oh ya, and they actually have to know how to tune a bike. I have had some horrible experiences with some of the shops up north, so I am a little timid to just walk into any shop.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Pacific Cycles (http://paccoastcycles.com/) is pretty good.

Pacific Cycles (http://paccoastcycles.com/) is pretty good.

+1 Chuck can be a bit gruff at times but knows bikes. I got my current road bike, an entry level Masi, there, and will probably go there when I step up to a carbon bike. He also has a large stock of pro-rebuilt used and classic bikes.

There are a number of bike shops in the area. Some are pretty good. This is my favorite.

I have lived in Carlsbad for 33-years and familiar with all the shops. Many have come & gone but Pacific Coast Cycles as well as Lucadia Cycles have been around forever. Having purchased over 20 road & mountain bikes during this time.....I offer the following.

Chuck and Pacific Cycles used to be my go-to-guy (back in the 80s-90s) and we purchased several higher end bikes from him. Not to bad mouth anyone's build quality............

If you want an honest, friendly, knowledgable, and fair guy to work on your bike, there is none better than Fred, owner of Lucadia Cycles on PCH.
