Foo - The squirrels are chewing on my cars

My wife is a hard core animal lover and one of her favorite things to do is feed the birds and squirrels everyday. She has three feeders on a couple of trees in our front yard that she hangs feeders from and she fills them every morning before she goes to work . A couple of months ago while washing her car I found a double gouge on the aero skirts of her Mazda 6, didn't think twice about it and touched it up with some paint. A couple of weeks later I noticed the same gouge on my Malibu and another on the Mazda. At that point I started to realize they were not from rocks being kicked up but, that they were teeth marks from a squirrels. My wife keeps all the seed in the trunk of her car and I think they can smell it and they are trying to get to it. There was one day that we made a trip to Petsmart with my car and we left the seed on the floor of the back seat overnight. I found two more spots on her car tonight so I pulled all the food from her car and placed it in a storage bin in the garage, hopefully that solves the problem. I was wondering if anyone knows of any such thing as a squirrel repellent that I could spray under the car to keep them away. In fact any ideas would be appreciated other than not feeding the vermin because she won't consider that.

there are mice repelling noise devices. Maybe they work on squirrels too.

You spray small particles of lead or bismuth to deter them. You can use a wide variety of sprayers to do this. I prefer the Remington brand.

I've had squirrels chew through my brake lines twice. The mechanic said he sees this on occasion and figures they like the taste of the rubber hoses. His advice was to change where I park, or kill all the squirrels.

Also two winters ago the squirrels chewed through all of the fence ties connecting the top rail of my chain length fence to the fabric. All the way around the entire back yard, probably 150 feet of fence.

My conclusion: squirrels are idiots.

The squirrels my wife fed seeds and nuts to were the same squirrels who chewed through the soffits and set up housekeeping in our attic...twice. I'm a graveyard -shift worker and trying to sleep through squirrel commotion is not fun.

So far, closing the holes and filling the eaves with mothballs has been an adequate deterrent. Maybe a bit of camphor sprayed on the car's lower bodywork would repel them.

This sounds good, but I would replace the terrier with a cat. Cats are better at stalking whereas the terriers get excited and yip, giving the game away.

Move the crap out of the garage and park your cars in there.
