Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - schwinn super sport?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm curious about y'alls impressions.
Super Sport from mid/late 80s at least.
worth paying $75 for a complete bike?
Don't know yet what state it's in (do know what district it's in, har har), but I'm looking to put a rear wheel on and go.
And I don't know crap about Schwinns.
Extra credit, what's the best bikeboom frame you've fixed up?

Where is Shepard park. I live in columbia heights. I dont know anything about schwinns
i have a Ross and it blows...alot.
try asking on the classic/vintage forum. those guys know everything you can possibly know about schwinns.
Shepard Park's about as far north as you can go in DC and still be east of Rock Creek. It's a 10-min walk to Takoma and a 20-min walk to downtown Silver Spring.
I'll ask the vintage people, thanks for the info.

I converted a Schwinn Le Tour (42x16t) into a commuter.
I have a custom built rear wheel with a Campy Record track hub.
It's a nice riding bike.

I was checking out a super sport the other day... they're light... seem pretty sturdy... I guess if all the componants are in REALLY nice condition, then 75 would not be bad.
i ride an 80's letour and she's a heavy *****.
but she treats me good and she'll live a long life, despite my abuse.
Yeah, I would say it depends on the quality of the components, what kind of shape it's in, etc. It would be a great price for a complete, ready-to-go old road bike (one that shifts right, good brakes, rims trued, rides well).
However, since you're looking to fix it, you could probably do a little better if you're willing to wait and scrounge. The extra money would buy you a couple cheap-ish tires or some bar tape.
