Commuting - Man it's foggy out there...

In some places, visibility was down to about a city block, or 1/16th of a mile or so. It was nice though, almost like biking in the clouds.
Sure makes running red lights and stop signs slightly hazardous lol.

yeah, it's pretty cool. last night i was riding along the rivers and into central park. it looked just like 19th century london. personally i hope the fog sticks around, it makes everything so surreal. :)

We had some nice fog here as well. Not quite as thick as all that, but still pretty nice. I love riding when it's seriously foggy. The tops of all the buildings disappear "up there" and sounds are all soft.

It was pretty chilly today and nothing's worse than a damp chill. On the other hand, I was like a wild bull. Every time I stopped I'd stand there shooting jets of steam from my nostrils.

I love riding in cool fog/mist. I agree with Tim, "surreal" is the word. It seems like everything moves slower, except for the bike. The moist air feels good to breathe. And, because it's cool, it doesn't make you sweat.

I like how I can see my lights illuminate the fog in the shape of a cone in front of me. Neat.

It was THICK out, forget jersey, I couldn't see the roadway of the williamsberg bridge when I was directly under it. I wish I bought my digicam though. About 10 minutes into my commute I realized I should've bought my digicam for a couple of surreal pictures, would've made nice backgrounds for me at work.

Whoa. I just went upstairs where they have these windowmathingies and it's so thick out right now. Daaaaaang.

Same thing in R.I. today, about a block at the most, only a little warmer. It still is mid afternoon. Nice. It's supposed to be warmer tonight.

I was thinking about borrowing that 500w halogen, with the 1.2 kw generator on the BOB.... no?

Yeah, and condensation was forming on the inside of my bike glasses.

The neat cone pattern of my bike light is fascinating and I had a strange feeling like I should sprout fangs and a large black cape. :)

I hear y'all on the fog. Last night and this morn. Cars have been really gentle as they pass me. Must think I nuts for biking in this stuff. Gettin' ready to ride home and the temps are in the high 60's and sunny. WTF!....I ain't complaining.

That fog was crazy, right? Over the bridges, I could see about 20ft. in front of me. Fun, though! I like it when the city changes what it looks like so drastically. Snow storms are fun to be out in, also..,

I'm liking that temperature today, for sure.

It was foggy last night here in DC. I was riding home along the Potomac River at about 9 pm and for a minute I thought the power was out at National Airport.

I woke up this morning and looked out the window. All I could see was white.

I have to agree, fog is fun to ride in.. PWRD and I went out riding last week in some wicked fog and it was lots of fun not being able to see more than a 10th of a mile in front of you. The cone pattern and the floating water droplets are pretty fascinating in the headlight beam. Also, late at night in foggy weather there seems to be less cars so we basically get the roads to ourselves around here. That's the best part. :)

It's REALLY surreal in NYC, cause it's NYC.
Everywhere else, the surroundings aren't as imposing. But NYC, very very few things can mask the concrete jungle and put you in a world of your own like the fog we had today.
