General Cycling Discussion - Time fro a trade in?

I just started biking a year ago and picked up a Felt F75 about 7 months ago. While its a great bike, I think it might not be the right bike for me. I do a lot of group riding and 95% of the group I ride with are on touring bikes typically. Im not fast and at my age, I doubt I ever will be. The fact that I cant put tires on it bigger than 25s limits its use for me and Im thinking about selling it in favor of something like a Surly Crosscheck. Do you think I would be able to get enough out of selling the Felt to buy the Surly or is this trade not a good idea (in your opinion). The Felt is in great shape and the only thing I changed was the saddle (to a WTB) and the tires to Gatorskins.

Sounds like a terrific barter opportunity. You need to find someone your size who bought a cyclocross bike or touring bike who is having trouble keeping up with fast club riders.

Hold onto it. You might branch out into other riding groups down the road where you will want to have the Felt to ride. Take a look at the Windsor Tourist for $599 (to your door) from Bikes Direct. The two together will give you plenty of options.

Im tapped on cash for the rest of the year, hence the need for the trade, plus I also have a Surly Necro Pug, a Kona Ute, as well as the rest of the families bikes taking up all available space, so another bike is not much of an option. At 40 years old now, I doubt I will be attempting any faster rides down the line and even if that changed, couldn't I put 25mm slicks on the Crosscheck and achieve similar results?

The first bike is the "test bike". It's how you figure out what you want in your second bike.

Consignment at a bike shop may be your best bet on getting anywhere near what you paid for it.
