Congrats on that! I have a romanticized vision of how a 600 might go. Most likely it would involve sleeping in a rain filled roadside ditch. lol

It took three attempts for my riding buddy buddy and I. The first one had rain, hail and huge winds.
The second saw up take a wrong turn and end up 25 miles off course in Orange Co. 25 miles there is a disaster. The third time, no big issues.
I'm going to attempt the Last Chance 1200 in Sept.

Great looking jersey k7! I did that two years in a row back in '90 and '91, rode PBP in '91 but back in those days (Konski) we didn't have any cool jerseys available.
Okay, we did get a kind of cool looking enameled medal (which I still have!), plus I still have my route book, bottle and medal from PBP.
My only word of warning/advice: A 1200 is more than twice as difficult (at least for me) than a 600. Much more. Hopefully YMMV to the better side!

Back in those days you're lucky your brevet cards didn't suddenly catch fire and burn up. ;) Not that that ever happened to me...
K7baixo, the Last chance can be quite a challenge. It is fairly flat, and boring unless you like areas like Kansas, but it can be very very windy and there is no hiding from the wind out there in the plains. hmm, I suppose since you are riding on a easyboy the wind won't be as big of an issue. On second thought, it's probably not a bad choice for you. ;)

Thanks Rick - I do appreciate the advice and the warning.
I texted back and forth with my riding buddy last night - neither of us are leaving much to chance. He's engaged John Hughes for coaching advice and I've stepped up my (so-called) training efforts.
I'm not quite a dinosaur - but not a young kid either. More steady and consistent. Maybe even slow by some standards. We try to maintain at least 15 mph or more while moving - flatter is faster of course - over distance and that gets knocked down to 12 or so with all the stops. Our focus is on finishing at this point. Personal bests are for the future.

Yep - you are correct sir. I am riding my vélo couché (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/V%C3%A9lo_couch%C3%A9). ;) I need to talk to my riding buddy about working more together in the likely case of wind. There's no reason why we can't share the load and take pulls.
I think we'll be physically prepared, our bikes will be ready too. The weather? Who knows - the Tombstone 600 was tough enough with the rain, hail, ice and big winds. We failed but hopefully, we learned our lessons.
