I was at the local shop today when a hipster girl walked in with a powder blue FUJI fixed-gear conversion. The thing was spraybombed from the front to the back, right down to the hubs and spokes - but someone had masked off the rims. So be it, spraybombed fixies are everywhere in Miami, and initially, I didn't take any notice - it had SR bars and generic Dia-Compe sidepulls, standard cheap-bike-bait.
But then I saw the crank - a third-generation Campagnolo Record 151 bcd road crankset (not a track 151 - this was a 3/32" double running on the inner ring), with its original rings, hiding under 5 pounds of powder blue paint. I nearly fell out of my shoes when I saw it. I was about to offer to buy the crank in exchange for a single-ring crankset, but then I saw the extractor threads.
Someone had drilled the living daylights out of them. There were conical impressions all over the extractor threads.
Ouch. Not quite the thing to make a C&V'ers day. :(
