I have a 2006 claud butler urban 400 hybrid bike. It was originally fitted with 700x42c tyres and it currently has 700x35c on them. What is the lowest size tyre width it can take? I'm hoping to put some 32c or may be even 28c on them. Here is a picture of the bike

My 2011 Jamis Allegro 1 came with 32's and I put 38's on it as I was going to use it as a non-suspension dual sport, changed my mind, put 25's on it for a while, decided the "ride" was a bit harsh, now it has 28's and I'm VERY happy with the ride. 32's shouldn't be any problem, I wouldn't go smaller than 28's, jmho, ymmv. Your local LBS can check the "width" of the rims and tell you the smallest and largest tires that will fit them.
